How can I put a stop to this food waste?

I work for a globally known company and I work in the fresh food dept. I havent worked here long but I noticed right away the amount of waste there was. For example.. There is a rotisserie section that cooks chickens all day and they have to keep the case rotated full. At the end of the day they use some of the unbought chicken for other things but if theirs more than the need, they just chuck it. Today I watched them throw 55 CHICKENS that had been cooked just that evening right into the compactor. Its not the employs faults.. its policy, they wont allow us to sell it or even take for ourselves.. but what im trying to say is theres got to be better ways, I mean damn that could feed alot of hungry people. Is there somebody that could try to deal with the company and take this food to shelters? is there some kind of organizations out there that do that? just looking for a way to help this. I was always taught not to waste... so this bugs me to see. Its not only chickens but all kinds of food.
